Billy Crudup grew up in Texas and later in Florida from where he graduated in 1986 from Saint Thomas Aquinas High School in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Billy Crudup later got his undergraduate degree from University of North Carolina and later acquired his Masters degree in Fine Arts in 1994 from the Tisch School of the Arts at New York University. Billy Crudup actively participated in stage plays with 'Lab!Theatre'. His parents were twice married and twice divorced during his childhood. Billy Crudup has two brothers, Tommy and Brooksboth of who are producers.

Billy Crudup began acting debut with "Sleepers" in 1996 and has since featured in several movies like "Inventing the Abbotts" {1997}, "Without Limits" {1998}, "Jesus' Son" {1999}, "Almost Famous" {2000}, "Mission: Impossible III" {2006} and "Pretty Bird" {2008}.

In between his movies, Billy Crudup embraced theater and appeared in several critically acclaimed stage plays such as 'The Elephant Man', Martin McDonagh's 'The Pillowman' and Anton Chekhov's 'Three Sisters'; and for his wonderful performance in 'The Coast of Utopia' Billy Crudup received Tony Award in 2007.
